1. 研究目的与意义

该文章重点研究影响英语学习者对电子书接受意愿的因素分析,评估可能影响学生对电子书的看法的因素,进而为学习者的外语学习提供新的思路。

2. 文献综述

Since reading and information dissemination have been affected over the ages with great deals of dramatic changes and innovations, a number of studies have investigated the use of e-books in higher education. The previous studies on the users attitudes toward e-books have generally concerned two aspects: the usefulness and usability of e-books. Many of them have found that students reactions to e-books seem to be unfavorable. Despite the students with e-readers show an increasing fondness for e-books, they just remain a relatively small population (McCarthy, 2011).Lam et al. (2009) conducted a survey on usability and usefulness of e-books on PPCs. The results indicated that e-books are not yet a useful or practical tool for academic learning as enjoyment of the e-books reading process was not high and comprehension of digital text was found to be challenging. Besides, they compared experiences between short-term and long-term e-book users and found that students who gave their first impression regarded the technology more positively than those who spent more time on it.Ivanovic (2003) asked 94 students to use e-reader for one semester, though the result revealed that students in general were positive to the use of e-readers, the research suggested that the technology still seem to be immature for serious study in an academic setting, which is in line with Chous (2012) study. However, Ivanovic pointed out the limitation of his research ---- the participating students are the relatively inexperienced users of e-readers.Eikebrokk, Knutsen, and Thaule (2011) conducted a project at Oslo University College aimed to explore whether the use of an iPad (chosen as the e-reader that had the greatest degree of utility) could improve students study habits. After a semester of use by students, the participants found that the iPad worked well for online documents and shorter articles but not so well for books. The JISC (Pinto, 2014) also provided its insights on its survey that students often use e-books for quick consultations rather than for in-depth reading.Apart from those mentioned above, the usefulness and display quality of e-readers are also the crucial determinants that affect users attitudes toward e-books. For instance, small screen size will make users eyes become tired or strained after long period of reading (Wilson, 2003). It seems that if the students do not have to read on a computer screen for a long time, they are more willing to read on a computer screen (Chou, 2012). Short battery life will also influence users reading experience which should be considered in setting electronic delivery (Young, 2009). Moreover, the users themselves are also one of the factors that affect their attitudes toward the acceptance of e-books. Anderson (2003), who surveyed 1500 US online Internet users, concluded that the more frequently users used the Internet, the more positively they would rate e-books.
