3. 国内外研究现状

A vast lot of studies have been done on Gone with the Wind from various perspectives since the publication of the novel. In the last 80 years, the majority of research was connected with the American culture, slavery, images#8217; characters, feminism, love theme and so on. Someone considers it as a encyclopaedia of plantation; some suggests that it#8217; s an annals of the U. S Civil War or a single romantic love story; also some criticizes it to be a sensation novel which advocates decadent ideology of capitalism. He Hong-juan[如果特别引用了某个评论家,后面要加一句介绍,比如He Hong-juan,the well known critics of Gone with the Wind,], a well-known critic of , in her study, mentions the Civil War and the social transition. The war destroys the old social economic order so that then people including Scarlett must change themselves to adjust to the newly-born society for survival. The war frees black slaves and after the war, northern industrial capitalism continually invades the restructuring southern American, follow that, those new ideas of independence, freedom and equality begin to be accepted by southern Americans. With the weakening of men#8217; s absolute social status and power, women#8217; s social status rises.Zhang Lin makes a analysis on Scarlett#8217; s feminist consciousness from her different characters and her affection to her homeland,Tara. ] that Scarlett has feminist consciousness all the time, she just hides it to cater to the traditional gender role or turns it into other things when she is young. Based on the above, from the angle of feminism, Scarlett#8217; s rebellion consciousness could be showed. The images of Tara is tightly connected with the heroine, Scarlett#8217; s whole life and emotions. Zhang Dai-sheng points Scarlett#8217; s loyalty and affection conveys an unique American culture― land-reclamation[?] culture. Wei Zhen-hua describes Scarlett#8217; s struggling experience for survival and love life and digs out her hidden personality, the tomorrow consciousness; he divides it into four aspects. Tomorrow consciousness is a common feature of Americans, as Ge Lan said, if say the book title, Gone with the Wind, is a euphemism of their tomorrow consciousness, then the Scarlett#8217; s motto is a completely direct expression of their desire and confidence towards tomorrow.Under Scarlett#8217; s skin, she is a rebellious, open and independent woman. As Ma Jia-ying writes, she dares to show directly love for Ashley and trys to persuade him to elope with her; for love, she is tough enough and willing to pursue it at any cost. Duan Su-ping admires Scarlett#8217; s independent and open spirit; Scarlett is the master of her life, love and marriage; she pays her attention not only on today but also on future. In south, like what welter Barbara said, genuine woman#8217; s temperament is about piety, purity, obedience and devotion to family. But Scarlett was not the kind of woman. Jiang Hui-hui talks about Scarlett#8217; s first two marriages: the first time is for spiritual independence, and the second time is for economic independence. The majority research just focuses on one aspect among the above to analyze the characteristics of Scarlett. This paper analyzes three kinds of consciousness embodied on Scarlett together to explore her inner spiritual world comprehensively.
