1. 研究目的与意义
Literary translation is not a simple process of translating one language into another, but a creative activity and an aesthetic activity. The theory of translation aesthetics uses the basic principles of aesthetics to analyze, interpret, and solve aesthetic problems in interlingual transformation. The study of aesthetic representations in translation is also part of the theory of translation aesthetics and helps translators to summarize the methods of combining the original content with aesthetic factors in the translation process. Taking the case of Lin Huiyin’s translation of “The Nightingale and The Rose”, this study explores how to interpret its beauty in English context while preserve the original meaning of English works in the process of translation into Chinese, so as to analyze the influence of aesthetics on language features in translation. This is why I want to study about the language features of Lin’s The Nightingale and The Rose from the perspective of translation aesthetics.

3. 国内外研究现状
Due to different historical backgrounds, cultural processes, and ways of thinking, Chinese and Western aesthetics have distinct development trajectories. Translation aesthetics is at the edge of translatology and aesthetics. Western aesthetic theories of translation have always been influenced by philosophy, such as A.F.Tyler and M. Arnold, who claimed that the essence of translation lies in the translator’s aesthetic perception of the “truth” expressed in the work. Nowadays, western translation aesthetics has been separated from philosophical thoughts, and has developed towards professional, systematic, and scientific directions. Most of China’s translation aesthetic theories are centered on the main idea of “Faithfulness, Expressiveness and Elegance” proposed by Yan Fu in1898. Recently, people integrate cultural and linguistic innovations in translation aesthetics, which started from the traditional Chinese classical aesthetics and combined with some perspectives of Western aesthetics, such as Liu Miqing’s theory of translation aesthetics, Mao Ronggui’s translation aesthetics, and Xu Yuanchong’s theory of “Three-Beauty Principle”, etc.
