Nigel''''s manor is the ‘tower’, in which Nigel is the absolute authority. Frederica wanted to escape from the ‘tower’.(杨琳，2017). However, women who are unfeminine, can hardly to live a demure life.(Gilbert, 2000). Physiological needs and the desire to continue offspring make both men and women establish marriages. It seems that men are under the control of women, but the fact is that women have not been liberated. (Showalter, 1977). Women are attached to the male gender, not a separate entity. Women’s independence requires the world to treat both sexes equally. (Beauvior, 2013). Women try to establish a new gender cognition, women can engage in men’s work, and can achieve brilliant achievements just like men. But society does not support this new perception. Therefore, lack of social recognition and help, women are facing a difficult life. Under tremendous physical and psychological pressure, they begin to doubt their choices. (Eagleton, 2014).

When women are promoted in the workplace, the chance of divorce increases, but men do not. Most of the reason is that men are more willing to get along with less ambitious women. Despite the promotion and implementation of equality between men and women, the relationship between men and women has not reached a balance point. Women''''s excessive sharpness will make men feel that they have lost their dominance and voice. In the workplace, more promotion opportunities are given to men rather than women.(Bursztyn, 2017). Very few women can get a higher position in the workplace, and to a large extent they refuse to start a family. (Klein, 1998).
