Pride and Prejudice has been translated into many languages and published in many countries. In the novel, the author displayed British social life and traditional code of people in the town from the late eighteenth century to the early nineteenth century. For a long time, many critics have studied the author''s life and the view of marriage in Pride and Prejudice. What#8217;s more, the novel itself shows the different attitudes toward marriage with its unique charm and vivid language. Regardless of the times, the view of marriage is a widely-discussed issue in the society. The realistic meaning: Pride and Prejudice is a novel that has shown different kinds of marriage to the reader in a relatively easy and enjoyable way. However, we can learn a lot from it. Love is the premise of the marriage and the economy is the guarantee of the marriage. it is wrong to marry for property ,but it is also stupid thing that not considering the property and status. Nowadays, it is a multicultural world, because of which, people have different ideas for the life and then for the marriage. Under this circumstance, many factors have appeared to cause influences on the view of marriage. Therefore, the novel is a valuable wealth that we should consider as an example.

This essay has focused on the factors affecting the marriage in Pride and Prejudice. It will find out the possible factors by a close read of the novel and analysis of five different marriages. In order to sum up the theme of real life-the determining factor of marriage which been discussed from the ancient time, it will also contact the social background with the current social reality. And finally by that, we can give a warning to the modern young people that they ought to treat the marriage carefully and be brave to pursue the happiness of life.

It has been divided into five parts. In the first part, it focuses on the general introduction of the author, her life and her works as well as some information of the background and the main context of the novel. In the second part, it will make some analysis on the five kinds of marriage, which can help to make the whole plot in a clear order. In the third part, we get to the main problem of factors. And the following is the influence that the novel has caused on the modern society. Finally, it comes to the brief conclusion of the whole essay.

The key problem in it is how to find the correct factors that have impacts on marriage and why they can affect them. Secondly, the author has shown the perfect marriage of Elizabeth in the novel, so I will find out the premise and guarantee an ideal marriage should embrace by contacting the reality. Thirdly, when a woman chooses a marriage, there are many factors that may affect their initial choice, I can only describe or find out partial and important factors.

Dong Na (2013) thought that the Elizabeth#8217;s view of marriage in Pride and Prejudice reflects the author#8217;s attitude toward the love and marriage: it is wrong that people get married simply for money, status, honor and appearance. However, the marriage on the basis of the love also needs to take the economy into consideration. That is to say, love and wealth are indispensable.

Cheng Yan (2013) thought that Austin described the female maturity and misunderstanding in the choice of marriage. It can be seen clearly from the novel that the author emphasized the significance of love as well as economy in a marriage. Another factor that Austin wanted to show is the female consciousness. Only when women take action and have self-examination can they have their own aspiration. Dignity and love are both indispensable elements in a marriage. Meanwhile, Austin pays attention to the middle class females#8217; problems in their emotion and marriage with a dedicated female feeling and care and reveals the weakness of human nature. She focused on the influence of the awakening of female consciousness on marriage.

Wu Jinyu (2012) thought that Pride and Prejudice is a comedy. In this comedy, the disclosure of reality of marriage is not ruthless, sentimental or moral outraged but ironic. Through the characters she described, we can see that she supposed that the marriage based on love is perfect and permanent.
