Pride and Prejudice is a British novelist，Jane Austen''''''''s masterpiece.Her work focuses on women#8217;s marriages and lives who are in squire families.This novel is totally different from the content ofpopular sentimental novels and artificial distinct writing method, vividly reflects the conservative and occluded British town lifefrom the end of the 18th century to the early 19th century.

Pride and Prejudice is the first novel I finished when I was in the secondery school.At that time, I couldn#8217;t understand the concept of love,the concept of marriage which the novelist wants to express and the concept of marriage of the upper class in the book owing to the restriction of age and ideas.When growing up, I became interested in what the Jane wants to tell us in the book.Deliberating the characters#8217; dialogue and actions in the novels,we can realize Jane#8217;s writting purpose on the one hand,when understanding the #8216;pride#8217; and #8216;prejudice#8217; which Jane wrote in the book, I have my own comprehension of the #8216;preide#8217; and #8216;prejudice#8217;--by studying the characteristics, education level and family background of characters in the novels and related films and drama, I dig out the hidden #8216;pride#8217; and #8216;prejudice#8217; which lead to the happy marriage in the end of Mr. Darcy and Elizabeth from the story plot and conversation. This thesis has never appear yet in the former research point of view.In the original, the author describes Darcy#8217;s pride and Elizabeth#8217;s prejudice signally,and this subject mainly study on the reasonable #8216;pride#8217; and #8217;prejudice#8217; in their hearts.It is the #8216;pride#8217; and #8217;prejudice#8217; which contributed to the heroine''''''''s marriage.

During the process of research,deeply explore the writting background of the story and how the social background make effects on the development of the story.The plot unfolds around the actress choosing spouse like Jane#8217;s other works, putting efforts to reveal the abuse of using marriage as women seeking economic security, improve the economic status and the ugly population of valuing family status instead of women#8217;s personal feelings,ignoring women#8217;s human rights. 18th-19th century when Britain entered the industrial age is an important period of social transformation, the status of women is also affected by social change. Industrialization process is accompanied by a process of gender socialization:It constructed the marginalization of women who actively made contribution for society; it provided the premise of constructivism of feminist ideology at the same time, awakening women commenced the struggle for equal social status with men''''''''s.In Jane''''''''s works, the female characters are the pursuit of equality with men in the exchange and communication of thoughts and feelings,they claim on an equal social status, adhere to independent observation, analysation and selection of husbands freely.Elizabeth is the center ofPride and Prejudice, she is a independent woman with rebellious personality,the author of all hopes and dreams are pinned on her.From these aspects,I find Elizabeth is bright, lovely, beautiful,generous,thoughtful and assertive.She resisted marriage with benefit, disdains authority. Darcy was born in wealthy family, he has good tutor, so as not to be bound by the secular, not be confused by appearance.He is integrity and honest. He also has prejudice to the marriage with benefit. And precisely because of these reasonable pride and prejudice of Elizabeth and Darcy, let they two get the happiest ending finally.These #8216;pride#8217; and #8216;prejudice#8217; demonstrate their courage to transcend secular society which is the deep voice the author wants to express, ironic phenomenon that women survive only through marriage, and praise the noble qualities of Elizabeth and Darcy.

Research content: Study on the family background,education level and outstanding characteristics of the characters in the novel through the story and related drama.Explore the social background and social system from related literature so that conclude the reasons of Elizabeth and Darcy#8217;s #8216;pride#8217; and #8216;prejudice#8217; which Jane wants to express and explore the deep #8216;pride#8217; and #8216;prejudice#8217; ofthem--Elizabeth#8217;s waking up fromfeminism and Darcy#8217;s agreement of equality between men and women.Find out their bright spots of characteristics and usage to criticize the phenomenon of secular society which are reasonable that lead to the perfect combine.

In China, it focuses on the female consciousness of Jane Austen novels, male and female arousal problems, the detailed analysis of the novel theme creation , embodyof feminism and so on.Research in this area has been very thorough, especially feminist scholars are concerned about a lot.

Keble(T.T.Kebble), famous British writer and criticsaid, 'Jane Austen is a comic artist' and that she is 'after Shakespeare on comedy in pure art.' FamousBritish historian, poet and publicist ,in nineteenth-century,Thomas Make Lai (Thomas Macauley) called her 'Shakespeare who wrote prose.'
