1. 研究目的与意义

本文从不同的视角出发，分析出潜藏文本并推导出隐含作者，最后对文章做出颠覆性的解读， 揭示出对于一个有公认形象的作者，应摆脱先入为主、一成不变的概念， 以文本为基础分析文章，领会文章的真正内涵。

2. 文献综述

In recent years, scholars around the world have analyzed this story thoroughly from different aspects such as narrative strategy, symbolic meaning, linguistic function etc. Through a wide reading and generalization of the previous research, we can find that former studies are conducted mainly from following angles. First, some of the works have interpreted this story from the angle of narrative strategy. By analyzing the text, scholars find that narrative strategy can be divided into narrative view, narrative time and narrative language. In the A Dill Pickle, the author adopts the third-limited point of view with great length. When adopting the third-person limited point of view, writers always intend to show a situation through the eyes of a unique character. Readers can only observe through the thinking mode and vision of Vera (Ran Yuti, 2012:151). When it comes to the narrative time, the author breaks the traditional writing mode, which refers to narrating the story according to time order. The story begins without background and characters introduction. And things happened six years ago and at the moment are narrated alternatively. The narrative language in this article mainly includes dialogues between Vera and the man, psychology activities of Vera and autobiographical words of the man. Scholars who study this story from narrative strategy find that by adopting flexible writing skills, the author establishes a female character with strong self-esteem and keen desire for freedom and a male character who is selfish and narcissistic. Second, some scholars have analyzed the story from the angle of symbolic meaning.Through research, scholars find that the author is skilled in using symbolism. Even a little thing or a tiny movement has its own intensive implied meaning (Wang Yueqing, 2008:77). And these implied meanings endow the story with profound theme and incomparable aesthetic value. Author describes many different kinds of flower in the story which has strong symbolic meaning. The title A Dill Pickle is also a symbol worth pondering in the article. When the male character talks about his traveling, the author mentions twice the strange beast which appears in Veras bosom. Besides, the movements of Vera such as raised her button and unbuttoned her high fur collar at the beginning of the story and buttoned her collar again and drawn down her veilin the end are also full of meanings. Scholars deem that by digging the symbolic meaning, we can find that Vera is a pure woman with sensitive heart while the man is a male with chauvinism.Third, some works have analyzed the story from the angle of linguistic function. This story mainly includes dialogues between Vera and the man, psychology activities of Vera and autobiographical words of the man. When scholars appreciate the language from the angle of linguistic function, they find that by analyzing dialogues and words of the story, the images of characters can be established much more accurately. A large number of discourse markers are used in the story which can show that during the dialogue, it is the man who always takes the lead. It reflects that the man is self-centered and egocentric and Vera is the one to be repressed.
