As the globalization processes, information should be paid high importance. And news which possesses abundant information is vital to every fields of the world, so it is crucial to understand the English news, having more advanced information, to master more knowledge about the technology, politics, economy and etc. Thus, this paper will help people to have deep understanding about English news, so as to be a person who can know more about the happenings in the world.

2. 研究内容和预期目标

My paper will give a brief introduction of the importance and the history of the English news.The first part will introduce the definition of news, the genres of news, and the function of news. Then, the paper will focus on the difficulties in understanding English news. The crucial problem is the strategies of translating English news. Thus, this paper will finally pay heed to the strategies.

3. 国内外研究现状

There have been many researches on the introduction of English news and the translation of English news made by foreign and Chinese scholars. For example, the foreign scholars Bassnett-McGuire, Susan(1980) who wrote Translation Studies , and Nida, Eugene(2004)，the author of The Theory and Practice of Translation . However , in China, seldom have scholars had deep study of this topic, except some students in Chinese universities, such as Yang Jinping(2006), Chen Lin(2005), and Zhou Xueyi(2000).

As English news becomes more important in today#8217;s world, we should pay more attention to the strategies of translating them, which are of great importance for people to have better understanding of English news. Besides, in China, though some people cover this topic, they do not give a very specific solution. That is why I attempt to make a research on this topic.

4. 计划与进度安排

This thesis will start from the definition, the genres and the function of the English news. Then it will show the difficulties we meet in translating the English news, which concludes five important elements. This paper will analyze the differences between English and Chinese language, which can help us find methods to the translation of English news. Finally, it will focus on the strategies of translating. After having a good command of these strategies, people will better understand the English news so as to get more information through the English news.
