The myth which reflects the primitive thoughts and lives, is a product of primitive belief. The basic characteristics of the ancient Greek myth is the spirit of the people, which is mainly reflected in the following aspects: Reflections on human problems in the myth of the ancient Greeks, God in the image of God, as a complex character with all people God, love of sensual reality life. The ancient Greek myth of penetrated into every corner of western culture. It is of European Renaissance humanistic thoughts and literary works of this period had great influence, for later writers provide valuable material, enriched the painting and sculpture theme, to increase the western language a large number of words and phrases. Greece is the cradle of Western civilization and a symbol of human wisdom. Although it did not unify a country, the common language and history had tied them up together. Greek mythology, as an oral form, spread and continued. Analyzing how and why it affected western culture will help us know the world better.

My paper will give a brief introduction of the history of the Greek mythology and how it spread and hand down to generations. Then it tries to analyze the effects on languages, arts, literature and public culture. As a result, analyzing how and why it affected western culture will help us know the world better. 3. 国内外研究现状

As an important literature, Greek myth attracts much attention from researchers, for example #8220;On impact of Greek mythology on western literature--taking opera and poems#8221;by Wu Aihong(2007) in china and #8220;Impact of classical literature such as Greek myth on British and American literature》#8221;by Lin Xiaobin(2012) in china What I have found out is that most of paper which concentrates on impact of Greek myth on western culture is written by Chinese researchers. Because of less influence by and great cultural difference between western and Chinese culture, Chinese researchers try their best to find out how and why myth affect western culture. Therefore, I do hold the view that the area I focus on needs to be further developed.

4. 计划与进度安排

At first, the paper makes a brief introduction of Greek myth, including its spread, origin, features and so on. It gives readers a general concept of what we will touch on in the later part of this paper. Then, it introduces impacts on Roman myth, languages, arts and public culture, each from several specific parts with some examples. At last, it gives readers a direct result on how and why myth affects western culture.
