1. 研究目的与意义
With the reform and opening-up policy being carried out in China, tens of millions of foreign visitors are crowding into our country. An increasing number of them would like to have a better understanding of Chinese culture. However, different languages and cultural backgrounds make it difficult for foreigners to fully understand many tourist texts, including travel brochures and signs in scenic spots. Under the circumstances, the importance of tourist translation can never be underestimated. Nevertheless, many problems still exist in today''s C-E tourist translation. The thesis helps summarize some typical problems in C-E tourist translation and find out solutions to those problems respectively.
2. 研究内容和预期目标
The thesis will give a brief introduction of several typical problems in C-E tourist translation and their negative impacts on visitors, and try to offer some methods to deal with these problems. The first part will introduce the background and structure of the thesis. Next, the thesis will focus on the significance of correctness and accuracy of tourism texts. Then, the problems in existing C-E tourist translation will be explored. In the end, the causes and solutions to these problems will be put forward.
3. 国内外研究现状
Researchers in western countries began studying tourist texts years ago, but few studies particularly focus on C-E tourist translation. However, Nida, Peter Newmark have made achievements which are beneficial to C-E tourist translation study later. Researches in China are once made mainly from linguistics and later turned to pragmatic translation after Functionalist translation theories were introduced. Tourist translation is different from literary translation in that it doesn't only emphasize appreciation but should also meet the demand of effective communication. Thus research on this topic is necessary.
