1. 研究目的与意义

Topic selection is an important step in essay writing. A good start is half the battle, and selecting the right one plays a crucial role in the success of the essay writing. The writing of the essay has some normative requirements. It is related to the interest of the individual and the usual accumulation to some degree. As far as the research direction of English is concerned, I am more interested in literature where I have a lot of interest in Ernest Hemingway''''s works. I also believe that Hemingway''''s novel The Snows of Kilimanjaro made a great deal of sense and had great research value and interest. After reading the original and related information on the basis of the teacher''''s instructions and many changes, I finally decided to select this topic. The novel of The Snows of Kilimanjaro, which is one of Hemingway#8217;s best works, is a wonderful description of a dying person. The novel focuses on 'death' and 'about to die,' but the fundamental review''''s journey back to the past and from the past to the present. The story crosses and transforms each other through the two streams of consciousness in the protagonist#8217;s dreams and wake-up periods. It fully depicts the 'death' and repeatedly uses 'symbolism' to describe the 'death'. Most of the characters in his work have a rather lonely inner monologue, that is, a long psychological description, which is actually the later development of a technique called 'stream of consciousness.' In the ideological sense, his character is more or less pessimistic, reflecting the limitations of his worldview.

3. 国内外研究现状

Domestic research status: With the opening of the country in the early 1980s and the tide of ideological emancipation, the trend of Western modernism began to pour into China, like William James''''s concept of stream of consciousness, Bergson''''s life theory and Freud''''s psychoanalysis, which have been always enlightening Chinese. Western modernist literature has expressed personality, individuality, self, and spirit. And a series of creative ideas about human beings, such as loneliness and depression, confusion and contradiction has embodied in their works, which has inspired people, especially novelist. Therefore, novels in the new era in China began to appear the real new phenomenon of novels of the stream of consciousness. For example, Wang Men, the vanguard of literature exploration and innovation in the new era, enabled the contemporary Chinese readers to recognize the stream of consciousness for the first time, and also enabled the readers to perceive the modern factors outside of realism through his works. They realized the most commonly used performance skills of these streams of consciousness like the dislocation of time and space, monologue, psychological reality, free association, etc. So contemporary Chinese readers begin to realize that novels can be written in this way, which undoubtedly brings fresh air to the Chinese literary world. Or on the basis of doctoral dissertations, in 2013, Professor Jin Hong revised and published 'Digestion and Variability: The Change of Stream of Consciousness in Fiction in China''''s New Era', which is such a rich content and complete system. It has both opened a new chapter in the study of the novels of the stream of consciousness in China''''s new era and the important meaning of filling the academic blank. Voice of Spring can be described as Wang Men''''s 'stream of consciousness' representative work. The Stream of Consciousness of Voice of Spring is related to the reality of the society and has a strong social character. The novel has a keynote and a master mind: the turning point in life since the Third Plenary Session of the Eleventh Central Committee of the Communist Party of China which is the melody of the era and the soul of the Voice of Spring. It should be said that it is a Chinese-style stream of consciousness novel that incorporates with the traditional Chinese culture. The experiment of Wang Men''''s 'Stream of Consciousness' aroused people''''s reflection on the traditional method of creation and the exploration of new aesthetic art. Foreign research status: The foreign stream-of-consciousness novels emphasize the true reflection of the spiritual world of characters. Their description focuses on the subjective feelings of people rather than the external objective world. The stream of consciousness novels successfully explored the subconscious and unconscious parts of the human brain, opening the chaotic and complicated psychological structure of modern Westerners. For example, William James explained the concept in the Principles of Psychology: Consciousness is not a link between segments, but a fluid one. It is most natural to express it by a river or a flowing analogy. In addition, Joyce boldly break the time and space boundaries of traditional novels in Ulysses, using an unprecedented stream of consciousness in the history of human language to describe Molly''''s ever-changing, mobile and sleepy-looking vague awareness. No punctuation in writing, no pause, it seems messy. The heroine''''s stream of consciousness staggered overlap, jumping frequently like a small river. Readers seem to find it difficult to find a complete and reasonable idea. However, this kind of style originally showed the primitive chaos consciousness of the characters, even including those unconscious reactions which are not close to the physiological instinct but belong to the category of consciousness. In her mind, the numerous thoughts fluttered and wander, which is close to the essence of human thinking and consistent with the natural laws of mental activity. It is quite natural and vivid, reflecting the skittishness of Molly. This period of monologue author''''s figure is hidden, secretly hidden inner life faithfully and naturally displayed. The reader feels as if he is directly touching the soul of a character, penetrating the depths of the consciousness of the character and displaying the impression, feeling, mood and relationship of the character.
