Theoretical significance:
By comparing of the education of Chinese and American families,we can analyze the reasons for the differences of education in the two countries.Then we can propose measures to reform the family education in our country.The advantagesof American family education is what Chinese family education lacks.Therefore some practices of American family education can be good examples for the reform of education in China.

Family is the first school,in which parents are the first teachers for the children.Children are the hope of a nation and family education is the elementary education for children.There are many types of family education in the world and each of them shows distinctive features and is closely responsive to its culture. American family education is the most famous one among them.There are great differences in the concepts of education, aim of education,methods of education and contents of education between American family education and Chinese family education. This thesis will complete the comparative study form the perspectives of differences,the reasons and the results of family education between America and China. The author hopes to find a satisfied family education method by comparing the differences between American family education and Chinese family education.

Domestic research status:
In recent years,many scholars in our country are also devoted themselves to the study of differences between Chinese and American families education.A comparative study of Chinese and American families has been done. Zhang Wei proposed#8220;Due to different social system and cultural background between China and United States, the Chinese education is different from American's.#8221;Family education,society education and school education are the three major powers of education system which society education and school education could not replace.It is the beginning and foundation of children education. Zhang Xiaoliang proposed#8220;China and the United States differ in their cultural traditions,ideology,lifestyle and social customs.There are many differences between the two countries in terms of family education.#8221; Reviewing their findings,we can sum up the following aspect: 1.Different historical background: China has a long history.So its cultural values are more reserved and conservative.And the Chinese lack the spirit of adventure and creativity.On the contrary,the United States has a short history.So it has very few old ideas andmore spirit of adventure and creativity. 2.Different traditional culture: China attaches great important to collective interests over individual interests.On the contrary,the United States emphasizes individualism and self-interest.Therefore,Chinese parents can take care of their children forever.And American parents hold the view that children should not be dependent on their parents until they are 18. 3.Different social and economic conditions: At present,China's social security and pension system are not perfect.Children's academic achievement are often the capital of their future life.However,America's economy is booming and has a sound social security system.American don't expect their children to support them.They hope their children to be an independent person.

Writing plan:
After establishing this topic,I will mainly make use of the school library resources and network materials, understanding the differences and causes of Chinese and American family education. After making further analysis through literature analysis method,induction and conclusion method, I will establish my own research direction and content.
