The novel Robinson Crusoe has long been considered as the classic of English literature. It was a breakthrough in the history of British literature, either aesthetically or socially. Robinson#8217;s image was depicted as a brave,wise,strong-willed and optimistic adventurer. As mentioned above, Robinson#8217;s image as a bourgeois has been analyzed a lot in recent years, but the analysis was not thorough and systematic.This thesis aims to make a thorough Post-colonial analysis of the novel.Through a counter- discursive interpretation, the collusion between Robinson Crusoe and the colonial power will be displayed specially. And the breakthrough will be the analysis of the relationships in colonial discourse including Robinson and Friday,Friday and his countrymen as well as Robinson and the natives on the island. Through the exploring of the colonialism in this novel,it will be easy and beneficial for us to understand the social and historic significance of the work more thoroughly. It will do well to analysis of protecting our racial characters and racial identity. At the same time, It will also offer us a special case for us to observe the cultural governing of the colonizers.

3. 国内外研究现状
Robinson Crusoe, one masterpiece of Daniel Defoe, has enjoyed a large popularity in the world since its publication. Some people think the book just a simple story of adventure written for children. Actually, Robinson Crusoe is considered as the first realistic novel in British Literature by some literary critics, attracting the attention of the researchers both at home and abroad. In general, the study is mainly based on the following four aspects: the perspective of religion, the perspective of individualism, and the perspective of colonialism.Firstly, Negotiations with Paradox (1990) complied by Stuart Sim analyzed Robinson Crusoe from religious perspective. In his opinion, anxiety is the central feature of Calvinism as a religious brief, and the main inheritance #8211; Calvinism handed downed in English literature. And the interior conflict in Calvinism is that God\determines a man#8217;s individual fate and people must be responsible for the behavior they made.In China, lots of studies focus on Protestantism in the novel. For example, Jing Jing conducts a comprehensive research for Robinson Crusoe on the the perspective of Puritan ethics. She draws the conclusion that the behavior what Crusoe does on the island is influenced and restricted by Puritan ethics, hence Crusoe is a representative colonialist and also is a puritan.Secondly, many researches center on the personalities of Robinson Crusoe. Ian Watt carries out the study on individual aspect and in his study The Rise of the Novel said#8220;It was not until the further development of individual capitalism, especially in England and the Low Countries that a mainly individual social and economic structure came into being and started to affect a considerable part, although by no means a majority, of the total population.#8221;Many Chinese scholars also speak highly of this novel and show great interest for Crusoe#8217;s enterprise on the deserted island. Wei Yingchao (2003) and Wang Yan (2006) all analyze the complex characters of Robinson Crusoe.Lastly, after reading the novel, we will find that there is a lot of plot concerning colonization, so many scholars pay their attention to this theme and study on it. In 1986, Peter Hulme delivers the study Colonial Encounters: Europe and the Native Caribbean which plays a leading role in the study of colonial study. In this book, Peter concentrates on Crusoe#8217;s possession of the desert island and the process how Crusoe change Friday. James Joyce puts forward the idea that the true symbol of British conquest is Robinson Crusoe. He is the true prototype of the British colonist, as Friday is the symbol of the subject races#8221;.This field is also widely studied by Chinese learners. Luo Shiping investigate the novel by analyzing the relationship between colonist and colony, slave owner and slave, white race and coloured race, central culture and marginal culture, civilization and savage, Robinson and Friday and so on. Zhao Yina explores the colonization and analyzes the demonization of the natives of Africa and America. Besides, other scholars also explore the colonial subject of the novel.
4. 计划与进度安排
Though the novel describes the adventure of Robinson Crusoe, it is the reflection of the colonial movements of white people. By analyzing the activities of Crusoe in the novel, the paper tries to explore the colonial problem concerning the novel. The essay is divided into four chapters. The first chapter is a brief introduction of Robinson Crusoe. Chapter two is mainly about the colonial background in Defoe#8217;s time, which focuses on the social reform and early colonial expansion of Britain. Chapter three is the major part of the paper. It analyzes Crusoe#8217;s colonial activities, including Crusoe#8217;s possession of the desert island and his transformation on Friday. Chapter four makes a conclusion for the essay.
