The Anti-Semitism is a kind of study of society, which mainly researches on the relationship of Judaism and other religions. The research focuses on discussion of the reasons of appearance the anti-Semite, including history reason, social reason, personal reason and the influence of the anti-Semitism. It conforms to the theme of building a harmonious society. The research reminds me of the novel of well -known William Shakespeare#8217;s the merchant of Venice.

William Shakespeare is one of the most significant writers during Renaissance period in England. The theme of this novel is to extol kindness, friendship and love. This story is related to the Venice businessman Shylock and one pound flesh of Antonio. By describing the story between Shylock and Antonio, the novel reflects Shylock#8217;s lamentable, despiteous and his difficult life. The study of the merchant of Venice will help us know better about the anti-Semitism in the literature.

Besides, the merchant of Venice is one of the most famous critical comedies of Shakespeare. The Merchant of Venice turned a blind eye to their sufferings and it is kind of injustice that contributed to the main cause of Shylock#8217;s abnormal personality.

The novel describes the miserable experience of Shylock and it is the reflection of the religion discrimination. By analyzing the business of the one pound flesh of Antonio, the paper aims to discuss the reason of anti-Semitism phenomenon and the personality of Shylock. The author holds critical words in the story of religion discrimination and deeply depicts the characteristic of Shylock.

The essay is focus on the different reasons of discrimination and anti-Semitism. The essay is divided into five parts. Chapter one is mainly about the literature review and current studies of The Merchant of Venice and the meaning of the anti-Semitism. Chapter two tells us the introduction of reasons of Jewish discrimination. Chapter three analyzing the reasons that cause Shylock has diversified character. Chapter four analyzes the relation between anti-Semitism and the novel. Chapter five is conclusion.

At abroad, Christopher A.Colom from the point of law and love aspects to analyze this novel. Xu Zhen even thought Antonio and Shylock--these two people are fellow sufferers. And he holds the point that Antonio is homosexual. Tang JianNan#8217;s #8216;From Bondage to Bondage#8217; shows his viewpoint of religion discrimination. Shu-hua Chung discussed the clothing of main character to analyzing regarded Shylock as a victim of racial discrimination and a failure of Civil-Rights defending.

In China, Jin LingJie from Jilin University has released his treatise. He discussed the racial discrimination and religion persecution in The Merchant of Venice. This treatise has a significant influence of the literature in racial problems. There also have many other people who analyze the novel from perspective of social background reason, personal reason. And works are keeping developed, ZhengHua#8217;s Jew#8217;s pain, the tragically destiny of Jew and so on #8230;.
