To cultivate undergraduates’ intercultural communication competence, it isnecessary for teachers to attach importance to the role of culture plays in theEnglish teaching. As language is not only the carrier of culture, but also thepart and pattern of culture.
In universities, actually, the English teaching has already focus on thecultural introduction. However the emphasis of it was put more on the westerncultural introduction. To cultivate intercultural communication competence, itis not inadvisable to focus only on unilateral cultural introduction. The lackof awareness of introducing Chinese cultural in English teaching will causecultural shock and cultural conflict.

Previousstudies on two-way cultural introduction in English teaching based onconstructivism theory
As the high-speeddevelopment of China’s economy and internationalcooperation, there has already had some reforms of teaching methods in China’sEnglish teaching. For example, at the beginning period of English teaching inour country, as the special modern history of China, Chinese citizen’spsychological repellence towards western culture awakened some domesticscholars’ attention to the western culture introduction, such as Luo changpei analyzed inhis book Language and culture(1950) . However, nowadays the principle ofculture introduction in English teaching has changed to two-way culturalintroduction, which is advanced and practical.
