1. 研究目的与意义(文献综述)

TheJoy Luck Club isthe first novel written by Amy Tan, a famous Chinese American woman writer. Itis also her well-known work. The novel takes the life tracks of four pairs ofmothers and daughters as a clue to show the process from contradiction tomutual understanding between them, and also reflects the process fromcollision, conflict to integration between the two cultures.

Thispaper will explain the practical significance of the female images through theanalysis of their ideas, relationship and psychological transformation, as wellas their personality growth and self-identification process in themulti-cultural background. In this process, it is arduous and long for them toseek and rebuild their cultural identity, but eventually they find thatcorresponding point. The personal experience of female characters in the bookhas been sublimated into the blending process of history and culture. At thesame time, it conveys the trend that Chinese and Western cultures will movefrom conflict to integration.

TheScholars all over the world have made a multi-angle study of the immigrantnovel The Joy Luck Club. In recent years, there are not many foreignstudies on The Joy Luck Club, but they are still very interesting, andthere are many new ideas in their studies. Among them, some scholars deeplystudy the continuing influence of the novel (ANDREW R., 2018); others propose‘a possible sharing’ in The Joy Luck Club, namely, ethnicizingMother-Daughter Romance in Amy Tan's The Joy Luck Club (Heller, 2016).At the same time, domestic scholars’ research on it has developed vigorously. In the aspect of role image, the female images of the novel are explored fromthe cross-cultural perspective (张海琳, 2014). In addition, the research onthe theme of ABC female images growth in The Joy Luck Club shows thetransformation of female images in the novel in the special cultural context (严静, 2014). What’s more, dueto the background of women's roles in the novel, a number of them study on itfrom the perspective of post-colonialism and adaptation theory. Sun Ya andJiang Xiaoyue analyze their works from the perspective of post-colonialism (SunYa, Jiang Xiaoyue, 2018). Besides, many scholars elaborate on the awakening offeminism in the novel (吴珊珊, 2016). As a literary work reflecting the society, itcontains the cultural blending of China and the West from the perspective ofecological criticism (余星, 2018). Digging into the novel, some researchers focus onthe "sisterhood" between female characters and the mother-daughterrelationship. The emotional process of four pairs of mothers and daughters fromestrangement, confrontation to understanding and tolerance of, reflecting theChinese and Western culture from conflict to integration (高合顺, 2009).
